Christina and I were invited to the Label Fashion show as part of Toronto Fashion Week. We were delighted to go and of course see the clothes which were fabulous, but also all the wonderful outfits, especially shoes, that the audience were wearing! We also donated 300 mini 3x4"ecojot notebooks that were part of the goody bags. Hope they land up in some very creative hands.

Vivid stripes of color make up these glorious scenes. This is the Northern Netherlands in the middle of Tulip Season. The dutch landscape in May is a kaleidescope of color as the Tulips burst into life. The bulbs are planted in late October and early November. Great inspiration for paintings, weavings. wallpaper, mosaics and quilting!

Hello all,

I wanted to thank you greatly for your help in providing the Ecojot notebooks and shipping to South Africa. As you know, these notebooks are benefitting the work that my organization, the Human Impacts Institute was doing with the Rural Women's Movement of South Africa. We did a lot of great work over the past two months and will be continuing many programs on land rights, poverty, environmental justice and more.

I have attached photos of some of the kids from the Khulani Children's Shelter in Durban (mostly HIV/AIDS orphans). They were very excited to receive the notebooks and will be using them for school this year.

Again, thank you for your support. It means a lot.

Ecojot is refreshing the look and feel of its entire website. Becoming its own community online, the site will further integrate social media outlets to make it easier for consumers to interact with the company and learn about our Give program.

Placencia School, Belize, Central America

We have just returned from a trip to Belize, where we visited the local school in Placencia Village. As part of our BUY 1, GIVE 1 PROGRAM, we handed out workbooks to each child. We met with the principal, gave a brief talk about Ecojot and who we were. They were so excited and some of them immediately began writing or creating something in their books. It was a pleasure to see, a happy day for these wonderful children and a proud moment for us.

"We will be visiting the women's correctional facility November 20th where we will hold a workshop for forty women. The foundation WWish was founded by my friend Laura and helps women build their self esteem and learn how to love themselves again so they can begin healing from their earlier trauma and obstacles that have taken them down some hard roads. Your journals will be part of their healing process. We will teach them about writing to relieve stress but also about drawing and letting their emotions spread across the page to help heal sorrow and anger."

If you wish to send us your work using any of our products, we'd love to see it. Who knows we may even publish it!

These are the lovely, happy children from Okurase Village in Ghana, holding their Ecojot notebooks!
The kids loved the notebooks. When walking the children back home two little boys asked me if they could take the notebooks to school. These two boys are fortunate enough to actually go to school but they have no notebooks or supplies of any kind. They were happy to know they could use them in any way they needed.

Donkey Sanctuary

We visited the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada this weekend where we met our sponsored donkey Poppy and her mama Pansy. This is a wonderful refuge for abused, neglected and no longer cared for donkeys who can live out there lives in absolute comfort & bliss.

EARTH DAY CONTEST + WINNER!

On the Designer Jots blog, we hosted an Earth Day Giveway/contest. Entries had to be in some way connected with Ecojot.. a doodle, a sketch, your most personal thoughts... whatever creative way you use Ecojot. Well the entries were fabulous, and i'm posting the winner today, plus 2nd, 3rd + 4th contestants in the next few days.
Winner is Ania from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She went for a hike, collected an assortment of leaves, grasses and herbs and pressed them in between pages of Ecojot. Next she created a beautiful Ecojot logo made from her pressed plants. Fantastic effort and beautiful result. We all love it!

As we all know "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away", as the old adage goes. Micheline, who uses Ecojot Notebooks and Sketchbooks everyday has this to say... "It's a sketchbook of painted apples. I started it because one of my teachers always said that the best way to learn how to paint was to paint an apple a day. The dots beside my name indicate the date I painted it (March 8, 2008).

Earth Hour, Earth Day and Earth Week are rapidly approaching us. In light of all this, we at Ecojot are doing an Earth/Ecojot Celebration. It's a Giveaway with a slight twist & a bit more work on your part. Instead of just leaving a comment on how you would save the world and do your little bit. (which is very important as well!)

Some exciting things happening today at Ecojot. Just got the go ahead to make about 50 000 school books which are going to Argentina, Israel and Zimbabwe! This is kind of what the kids will be receiving on the other end. Feels good!
